In Person or Virtual, Premier Education Opportunities Offer Same Valuable Content
By Jodie Norquist, CIP, CHSP
As a financial professional, it can be challenging to keep up with all the new regulations and rule changes that affect retirement, health, and education savings plans. That’s why, for more than 35 years, Ascensus has sponsored annual training events that bring financial industry professionals together from all over the country to connect and learn.
As you know, the coronavirus pandemic has changed the way we all do business. Offices and lobbies closed as employees began working from home. Even today, not all of your staff members may have returned to the office. At Ascensus, we’ve adapted as well. We hope that the changes we’ve made will allow you to meet your individualized educational goals in this ever-changing work landscape.

As an alternative to Ascend, the industry’s most comprehensive, on-site, education conference, Ascensus presented the Virtual Compliance & Legislative Summit last year. This fall, you’ll have the option of participating in one or both premier education events. The Virtual Compliance & Legislative Summit will be held virtually October 4–6. Ascend 2021 is planned for November 15–17 in Las Vegas, and, as with other on-site engagements, Ascensus will be adhering to the latest COVID-19-related guidance.
The core training at both Ascend and the Virtual Compliance & Legislative Summit remains the same; a variety of topics will be covered, including the latest guidance affecting Traditional and Roth IRAs, qualified retirement plans, 403(b) plans, and health savings accounts. Participants will get the latest information on required IRA amendments, 2021 IRS reporting changes, new life expectancy tables effective in 2022, updates on the new IRS Form W-4R, and more.
The Virtual Compliance & Legislative Summit combines live instructor-led sessions and on-demand content. As a participant, you’ll be able to participate in more than 25 courses, from basic to advanced subjects. The same courses are offered at Ascend 2021, plus 13 additional courses, along with in-person networking opportunities.
Both premier training events are designed to educate retirement, health, and education savings plan professionals—including personal bankers, investment advisors, CPAs, relationship managers, and IRA administrators. Whether you’re an expert or new to the industry, you’ll find courses that meet your learning objectives. And if you’re looking to earn continuing education (CE) credits, both Ascend and the Virtual Compliance & Legislative Summit qualify for many of the financial industry designations. You’ll also be able to earn the Certified IRA Specialist (CIS) II industry designation at either event or the Certified Health Savings Professional (CHSP) designation at Ascend.
